All About Southfield, Michigan

Being part of Detroit’s northern suburbs, people often don’t know much about Southfield, Michigan.  But it is a vital part of the greater Detroit metro area economy and is interesting in its own right. Information can be found here.

Geography and Education

Southfield is built on the main branch of the River Rouge and covers an area of about 26 square miles.  You will find Lawrence Technological University, Abcott Institute, The Specs Howard School of Media Arts, and five other colleges within its borders. Southfield Town Center Complex

This is a very interesting group of buildings in Southfield. The buildings are hotels and office buildings covering 2,200,000 square feet. This includes the Westin Southfield Detroit Hotel, restaurants, a fitness center, many offices, and a conference center.

Southfield City Centre

This is not to be confused with the Southfield Town Center Complex.  Southfield City Center is located near I-696 and the Lodge Freeway in Southfield.  It covers over 1 ½ square miles and includes major business centers, a nine-hole golf course, and 7.75 miles of shared urban trails.
