Medical Transportation
MCL.500.3107(1)(a) states that “Allowable expenses consisting of all reasonable charges incurred for reasonably necessary products, services and accommodations for an injured person’s care, recovery or rehabilitation.”
A “reasonably necessary service” is transportation of an injured person to and from a medical provider.
The no fault insurance company will pay to reimburse you for transportation expenses if:
- You transport yourself to the doctor, you can receive between .30 cents and .55 cents per mile; or
- You have no means of transportation by which to travel to and from a doctor; or
- The doctor indicates that you should not drive for medical reasons, you can utilize medical transportation services for which the insurer should pay reasonable and customary fees.
